Getting started with the Children's Education Status setting


 

As an admin or owner, you can use the Children's Education Status setting to self-identify your Zoom account profile and report if your organization uses Zoom products to provide educational services to children under 18.

How to sign up for a Zoom account with the Children's Education Status setting

Note: Until authorized administrators or teachers in the U.S. whose organizations have selected the Under 13 check box complete the e-signature process, the account cannot be used.

Zoom Paid Plan for Education

To sign up for a paid education account on behalf of a school or other organization that uses Zoom products to provide educational services to children under the age of 18:

Complete the Configure Products section

  1. Go to the Zoom for Education page.
  2. Under Zoom for Education, click the Buy Now button.
  3. Under Zoom Meetings:
    1. Select how many licenses you need.
    2. Select the Education plan.
    3. Select the Annual subscription cycle.
    4. (Optional) Select the Additional Options that you want, and follow their prompts:
      • Cloud Recording Storage: Increase your storage with up to 100 GB, 500 GB, or 3 TB of additional monthly storage to store, stream, share, and download meetings/webinars from the Zoom Cloud.
      • Audio Conferencing: Enable call-out functionality and toll-free dial-in numbers for participants (available in multiple countries) to your meetings, webinars, or rooms.
      • Large Meeting: Increase your number of interactive participants (up to 1,000) for the meetings or webinar panelists.
        Note: After purchasing Large Meeting licenses, you must assign those licenses to users in the User Management web portal to grant them the capacity increase.
      • Conference Room Connector: Enable SIP or H.323 room systems to communicate with desktop, tablet, mobile devices, Zoom Rooms, and other SIP or H.323 endpoints.
  4. Click Continue.
  5. (Optional) If you’re interested in other available Zoom plans, select the plans that you want to add, then click Next.
    If you want to continue without selecting other available Zoom plans, click Skip This Step.

Complete the Create Account section

Notes:

  1. Confirm your date of birth.
  2. Click Continue.
  3. Enter your contact information, email, and create a password for your account.
  4. Click Continue.

Complete the Payment section

  1. Under the Billing Contact section, enter your billing contact information.
  2. Under the Sold To Contact section:
    • Select the Same as Bill To Contact check box if your Sold To contact information is the same as the above Billing Contact information. Then, continue to the next step.
    • If your Sold To contact information is different from the above Billing Contact information, deselect the Same as Bill To Contact check box. Then, enter the Sold To contact information.
    • (Optional) Click Verify Tax Exemption Status.
      You will be redirected to ECMS to validate your tax exemption status.
  3. Under the Payment Method section:
    1. Enter your debit or credit card card information or select to pay through PayPal.
    2. By Full Address, select the Same as Bill To Contact check box if your address is the same as the above Billing Contact information.
      If your address is different from the above Billing Contact information, you will need to enter your full address.
  4. Click Continue.

Complete the Review Order section

  1. Review your order details and ensure that the charges are correct.
  2. Click Place Order to confirm your order.
    If you need to edit your order, click Back.

Zoom Free Basic Plan for Education

To sign up for a free education account on behalf of a school or other organization that uses Zoom to provide educational services to children under the age of 18:

  1. Go to zoom.us/signup.
  2. Enter your Verification information and your email address.
    You will receive an email from Zoom (no-reply@zoom.us).
  3. In this email, click Activate Account.
    This will direct you to a Welcome to Zoom webpage.
  4. Enter your contact and password information.
  5. Select the For Educators check box.
  6. Select the check boxes that apply to the age groups that your organization provides educational services for.
  7. Click Continue.
  8. Under Add Organization Information, complete the required information.
    1. Under Your Role in the Organization, select your role.
      Notes:
      • If you are in the U.S. and previously selected the Under 13 check box and select Other now, you will need to provide the Name of a Superintendent/Principal/Administrator/Teacher who will e-sign Zoom’s Consent to Educational Data Collection Practices for the organization and their email.
      • If you previously selected the 13 to 15 and/or 16 to 17 check box(es) for applicable age groups and select Other now, you will not be required to enter a secondary authorized party.
  9. Click Add.
    Notes:
    • After adding organization information, users who selected the 13 to 15 and/or 16 to 17 check box(es) can use their account and do not need to e-sign Zoom’s Consent to Educational Data Collection Practices.
    • Users who selected the Under 13 check box, will be directed to a webpage that will notify you that an email with directions for completing the education account activation process will be sent to you or the consenter (see Step 8.1). After you or the recipient of the email has provided consent to Zoom’s Consent to Educational Data Collection Practices, your organization may use this account.
  10. (Optional) If you selected the Under 13 check box, and you need to change the recipient who will consent to Zoom’s Consent to Educational Data Collection Practices, click Change Recipient.
    1. Under Change Recipient, provide the Name of Superintendent/Principal/Administrator/Teacher who will e-sign Zoom’s Consent to Educational Data Collection Practices for the organization and their email.
    2. Click Change.
      An email with directions for completing the education account activation process will be sent to the consenter. After the recipient of the email has provided consent to Zoom’s Consent to Educational Data Collection Practices, your organization may use this account.

How to renew your Children's Education Status setting

Users who have consented and have been verified will need to re-consent each year. After 335 days from enabling or getting started with this feature, the account owner or admin will receive a notification that re-certification must be completed within 30 days. An email with directions for completing the education account activation process will be sent to the consenter; the recipient of the email must provide consent to Zoom’s Consent to Educational Data Collection Practices.

If no action is taken after 30 days of receiving the notification, the account will be locked. After another 30 days, the account may be subject to deletion.

Renew verification before account is locked

After signing in to your Zoom Education account, you will be directed to a notification webpage. You will be notified that an email with the Education account activation process will be sent to the consenter. You can click the following options:

After signing in to your Zoom Education account, you will be directed to a notification webpage. You will be notified that your account is locked. The account owner or admin will need to renew and sign Zoom’s Consent to Educational Data Collection Practices within 30 days of your account being locked so the account can be used. You can click the following options:

Resolve a locked account

If you attempt to sign in to your Zoom account, you will be alerted that your account is disabled.
You must contact your account admin or organization administrator. If your account admin or organization administrator completes the e-signature process within 30 days of your account being locked, your account will be re-activated.
